General Motors to Pay $150M in Engine Defect Settlement: $2,149+ Per Eligible Owner

If you own or lease a 2011–2014 Chevrolet or GMC vehicle in California, North Carolina, or Idaho, you may be entitled to over $2,000 in compensation from General Motors.

GM has agreed to a $150 million class action settlement to resolve claims that certain vehicles were sold with defective LC9 engines that consumed excessive oil — and that GM failed to disclose the issue to customers.

🛠️ What’s the Issue?

The lawsuit alleges that several popular Chevrolet and GMC models were equipped with faulty LC9 engines that burned through oil far too quickly. Owners say this caused major mechanical problems, and that GM didn’t warn buyers or fix the issue.

Although GM denies wrongdoing, it has agreed to a settlement to resolve the claims.
